Wild natural beauty, apokrimnoi rocks, rich waters, traditional and historical figures certainly make up the picture of Kalavrita, which means hiding in dense vegetation in the foothills of the legendary Chelmos at an altitude of 750 meters, 198 kilometers from Athens and 77 kilometres from Patras.
With rich historical heritage Kalavrita have won in recent years, several friends of winter sports, after several skiers were on a very good alternative towards more cosmopolitan Arachovas. However, under no circumstances have fallen behind in terms of lifestyle, since choices in accommodation, food and entertainment are most numerous - at night you leave you can play until ... louloydopolemo.

For your culinary delights epidotheite to local delicacies (chortopites, chylopites, stew, the famous Graviera of Chelmos), but keep ... space for loukoymades and of course for tsipouromelo. Do not forget to drink a coffee boiled in chovoli and of course try the local yogurt.
For your stay, some of the hotels in which you can contact: the guesthouse Georgios V (tel 26920-24600), the renovated Helmos (tel 26920-29222), the band Fintaf (Tel 26920-24.552 / 210-93.54.907), the hotel Δρυάδες (tel 26920-23840), the hotel Anesis (tel 26920-23070).

Monemvasia

The narrow cobbled alleys, Byzantine churches, castle, cannons at the ends of the Venetian coats, double-decker stone mansions create the feeling that in this seaside village with the "single emphasis" the time has stopped.
On the east coast of the Peloponnese, about 320 kilometers from Athens and 92 kilometres from Sparta is Monemvasia. The "single-emphasis", a single entrance that leads to the castle, which is built on a rock of 350 measures which rises a short distance from the east coast of Laconia and is linked to the mainland via a bridge.
The establishment of the settlement was made by the Lacedaemonian 6 th AD century. Then lower the creation of a village where the city developed gradually gained great strategic importance.
After a brief papal possession was received in the Venetian domination in 1464, while 1540 following the period of Ottoman rule. In 1690 the city surrendered to the Venetians, while in 1715 the Turks anakatalamvanoun. Released in 1821, the first fortified city was liberated from the Turks.
All these influences are visible even today in "kastropoli" - as they call it-which consists of two parts. One is built on the rock, where even today there are the ruins of buildings Byzantine periods. The other is the "Down Country" where there is a "living castle", as residents have maintained their homes in the same form for the last 2-3 centuries.

The view from the castle is literally breathtaking. On the one hand stretched out the Myrtoo Sea. On the other extends the laconic land. Behind the walls of the castle town ... alive. There is also the culture of today: restaurants, cafeterias, bars, hotels.
Walk the cobbled streets. Admire the Byzantine churches. Enjoy the mansions with arches. Visit the home of the great poet Yannis Ritsos, where the bust.
For gourmet dining you enough to know that inside the castle "hiding" several picturesque taverns (not necessarily tourism).

We would, however, we suggest two parties outside Monemvasia. In "Pipineli" (synoikismo Agia Paraskevi leaving for Naples, which specializes in meat) and "Atha" towards MOLAOI, in the village of St John. The menu Atha will enjoy two local specialties: the amazing saitia which (thin chortopitakia baked in coal) and gkogkes (handmade pasta).
For your stay, we suggest the "Byzantino" (tel 27320.61254), "Lazareto" (tel 27320.61991) or romantic "Cells" (tel 27320.61520)
Finally, select your drink (inside the castle) "Venetian" and "Ardami".

Neda

The river is a Neda by the largely unknown challenges for a traveller. The katavasi demonstrated the unique experience: walking in the gorge, changing the landscape, waterfalls, the archaeological site of ancient Figaleias, plus the fact that traces of human presence is very distinctive and compose a unique setting.
The Neda stems from the word Lykaio frontier Arcadia and Messinia.
Forms a path 32 kilometres and is the natural boundary of the prefectures of Messinia and Ilia. The river in most of the road crosses a narrow gorge, which is just ... beautiful.
Wild and dense vegetation, small waterfalls and three adults, who form "kolympithres" tirkouaz with water, rocks and imposing fidogyrismata route. Clearly organized descent is more safe (in general) choice. The Trekking Hellas (tel. 2103310323-6), for example, offers the possibility of four journey every weekend from June to September instead of 47 euros per person.
Near the shores of Nedas is the ancient Figaleia, while a few kilometers west of the new Figaleias is the Velika, a great (and beautiful) cave from which crosses the waters of the river until you reach the parapotamo Pamisso. In the same height of the journey is the church of the Virgin Mary and a little more over the recess where according to tradition was the miraculous image.

The best time to do (namely, more sports ...) the entire route is late summer-early autumn. The river downloads less water, so the (inevitable) ... swimming in some parts of the journey or even only to "kolympithres" (due to temperature) is much more comfortable.
For those who simply want a good taste of the river, the descent from the village Platania is the most appropriate. Following the (many) vgainoume plates in the Tower of Barmpalekou, modern building with a café and ... panoramic view. The dirt road down the slope is smooth (those with 4x4 vehicle would appreciate a little above) and leads to a designed area for parking and piknik.
The paths opened, lead (right) in the first cataract, (opposite) the church of Panagia and ancient Figaleia and (left) in a compatible and very characteristic part of Nedas. Note necessary: even this little taste is very strong and wants some walking!

As a basis for the campaign in Neda, Kyparissia (three hours maximum Athens via Tripoli) is the best proposal. Beautiful and quiet (especially the Old City with the Byzantine castle), has the classic "comfort" for a traveler, and indeed a good level.
Fairly and ... different types of restaurants (for the famous "gournopoyla" go to the square, for seafood you get down to the beach or to the new port - and, try varieties of "En Plo"), nice café and bars on the beach (we recommend "Vromero Grubby "!).
From Kyparissia, in order to go to Platania and Neda, follow the road from Kopanaki is novus and good enough. More ... worried follow the path of imioreina villages Sidirokastro and Vlore, the road is typical Greek district, but the route is beautiful. The Platania, noted, have a nice "balcony" (with cafes and tavernas) sees the gorge of the river and the sea. Keep in mind that summer jacket needs, so you and your needs.
From Kyparissia also worth (much) to visit (to learning and recreation) mykinaiko archaeological site of Peristerias (northern edge of the kingdom of Nestor, with impressive results, in the Archaeological Museum in Athens), Agrili to the south, ouzaki the "Mylo" (if you find greens of the sea, try) and olofresko fish villages St. Sunday Marathos (the "Argyris" Fennel is a must in the region).
For your stay in Kyparissia there are several good hotels. The hotel "Tsolaridis" (tel. 27610 22145) has 25 rooms, with prices starting from 40 euros. In "Kyparissia Beach" (tel. 27610 24492-4) prices start at 50 euros for a double room and 90 euros for suites, and from July 10 until August 31, the corresponding rates are 65 and 120 euros. The hotel "Kanellakis" (tel. 27610 24464-65) has double rooms at a price of 40 euros with breakfast, and there is the possibility of a better price.

Madagascar

The Sifaka of Verreaux, t o lemourioy kind that people in the Androy region of southern Madagascar called "dancer", has ypolefki fur and black person.
It seems a little with pithiko vervet or siamaia cat, but has the ability to walk with the hind feet. In addition to pidane from tree to tree, these animals for a strange reason like to perform dance moves soil treklizontas with his hands in the air, hence the paratsoukli.
To say that lemourioi-dancers are fun or, even worse, "charitomenoi" would be cliches. Instead, I prefer to convey a local, traditional story about their origins. Sometimes, a kakia mitria theti struck the daughter of a person with a dipper. The blow was so possible that flew on trees. This and the descendants of staying forever on the trees, with black masks on their faces, away from human decline.
This story is interesting because it gives dignity to lemourioys, a species found only in Madagascar, while proposing that it is somehow sophisticated than people living in trees and by logical choice. In reality, those animals come from progonous common with the apes, but chose a different evolutionary path after separation of Madagascar from the hypothetical super-continent Gondwanaland before millions of years.

The ancient, isolated natural habitats of the island, who are threatened with deforestation, have unique flora and fauna, with the overall populations of many species are not limited to just one piece of forest area.
The traveler who would attempt such a distant journey will be difficult to have in mind only the exotic beaches, which are not rare in Madagascar. The bulk of the coast consists of katalefki, fine sand, palm-trees and prasinogalaza waters.
In the capital of the island, Antananarivo, or Tana, features are the narrow alleys of the upper town, where all the houses using the ground floor shop for giving the image of an immense bazaar. In the city there are also more impressive palaces of the kings of race Merina.

Apart from the coastal beauties will encounter along the coast of Madagascar and of course the impressive vegetation, the attractions of the island including the husband of pirates who dominated the seas of the region during the Middle Ages. The best known of these is the Simentrier de Pirats, south of the island, which one reaches after an adventurous trekking through valtous.
In the southern part of the island, adjacent to Fort Ntofin town is the Fort de Portougkals, one of the oldest buildings epoikistika which had been created for Portuguese ships have a safe shelter to periplou travels in Africa.
Madagascar is so poor as the poorest neighbours in Africa, but a consequence of history and climate. The cyclones affecting the island each year between November and April, bringing devastation to the rudimentary infrastructure. Madagascar has overcome several difficult political transitions since independence in 1958 and experimented with socialism from 1975 to 1991.
Respect for ancestors is a key element of their culture but, as many note, is also an obstacle to development. For example, international organizations have fought to introduce rice cultivation methods higher profitability, but the people of the island prefer the traditional ways that were transmitted by their forebears.
But outside of adhering to the traditional requirements, the inhabitants of the island have a apokosmi makariotita, which would perhaps be to find people who are acutely aware that they live
in paradise.
It is telling that the expression that a visitor will meet more often to stay in Madagascar is "mora-mora" which means slowly, instead of fysiologikoterou "salama" which means hello. "Mora-mora" is an expression that can be waiting in the responses of native to most of the questions involving the "what time…", as the measurement of time is not so widespread habit in Madagascar.
It is worth noting that in 1994 one of the many hurricanes that every so often hit the island destroyed the only school in Akanini Nofi, a large fishing village south of the country. The building was fixed by the people and worked again in 1997, while for three years, the children do not go to school and teachers lost their jobs.
The friendly and hospitable people of Madagascar is in itself an important reason to visit the big island. Chairesai the kindness and his willingness to help, to serve.

Besides all this, Madagascar is making a separate monument Natural History. Before 165 million years apokollithike from Africa, taking with her a wide variety of animals and plants, which do not currently exist elsewhere in the world.
From the time of Marco Polo, who arrived the first visitors to the island, heard stories about white pygmaious on monkeys more than 2 metres tall, bird-elephants, who spent the 3 meters, for carnivores trees katavrochthizan people. These are perhaps the only things that look as though, will not meet the current visitor Madagascar. The vast forests, but also the famous national parks, are an ideal home to more than 50 propithikon species, 200 bird species, 300 reptile species, which will not find anywhere else in the world.

Spetses

The beautiful Dapia, the mansions which has embodied the history of centuries, the fillets with pebbles alleys, the old port, the traditional karnagia, monippa amaxakia, but also an unlikely peace - the absence of car-are only some of the reasons why Spétses have become a favorite destination for residents of the capital and beyond.
In just two hours from Piraeus (flying) or with alternative car to Costa in the Peloponnese, to spend the face with water taxi or by ferry boat, we're in ... Pityousa (from "pine-clad", a name that kept up to the Byzantine era). We recommend the transfer of flying as more relaxed and easy.
The Spetses, however, appropriate and escape with your boat (or speedboat sailing), which can be "berth" (... space permitting) in the Old Port or Dapia.
The statue of Bouboulinas on the right side of the harbour is a first indication of the history surrounding the island. In the square of Ntapias, which was the former pyrovoleio of the island, there are canons until today.
The mansions maintain a separate architecture, and walk the alleys will lead you to ... shopping spree (especially the ladies who will have the opportunity to discover unique shops).

The choices for entertainment are several (mainly the old - a wooden-port). Beautiful restaurants and taverns to carry gourmet dining, with the wave to skaei literally at your feet, while the continuity you have to choose between more quiet bars for Enjoy your drink, or "xesalosete" under the sounds of Greek or foreign music.
Your transfer to the island probably will bear in mind something from ancient Greek film: Since there are no cars, you have to choose between cycling, monippou amaxiou, marine taxi or one of the few buses in circulation in case you want to go at a beach.
Regarding the latter, there for all tastes, with sand and pebbles. We appreciate, however, that is one of the few things that have Spetses lagging behind (in a sense), since there are those who will charaktirizame as "excellent".

Do not leave without obtain its own terms for marzipans, spoon sweets and of course the "fish ala spetsiota".
It is worthwhile to see in early September each course and provided that you have some time before provision for accommodation, "naval battle of Armatas" (representation of nafmachias of Spetses made in 1822), where the burning of the boat is indisputably an impressive sight.
If you feel that you have found the love of your life, then you might want to do and a trip to the cave Bakiri. Legend says that if you drink water from a source inside the cave, then erotas you will live forever!
What to see
The Museum of Spetses, which is housed in the mansion of Mexi Hadjiyiannis, one of the first rulers of the island in years of struggle of our National Independence. The exhibits of the Museum of Spetses representing more than 4,000 years of cultural history of the island and cover all forms of expression of art.
The Flag of the Revolution, the bones of Laskarinas Bouboulinas, weapons and portraits of Spetsioton nafmachon, watercolor and oil paintings of ships and the Struggle stolisma, the akroprora including those relics to the contribution of Spetses in Ethnegersia of 1821.
Of particular interest is the Museum presents Bouboulinas, which is housed in the mansion of the heroine, while excellent is the Kapodistriaki Housing Spetses, where the possibility exists for conferences.
Also worth visiting the church of Agia Triada with carved iconostasis, but also aniforisete to the Prophet Elias, the highest peak of the island.
In addition, recent years have created rooms in the island-art sites, who host, especially during the summer months and anoixiatikous, art exhibitions. Such areas are the gallery "Akroproro" in "Old Port", the gallery "Astrolabe" complex "Islands" and the Municipal Chamber "K. Antoniadou ".

Bratislava

The first time was in Bratislava, not by choice but by a series of incredible circumstances that accompanied my first trip to neighboring Prague trying to remember where we had heard. Like, I imagine, and the majority of readers of this article.
Just 324 kilometres from Prague, Bratislava has dual "unfortunate" not only is just 13 years state capital but also overshadowed by the popular tourist destination in Central Europe, the capital of the State several years struggled to secede . Thus, although in a broader context growing rapidly, tourist development is still in its infancy, if compared with other European capitals.
The popular publisher of travel guides Lonely Planet has adopted the phrase "off the beaten track" as one of the mood music and claims to destinations that have not yet been "discovered" by tourists is the most synarpastikoi - are worth visiting "travellers".
The capital of Slovakia is among those parts that are not in kataktoun immediately. At first glance seems neutral, common, and perhaps even boring. The hidden beauty revealed in the eyes of the careful observer, what have enough time to discover.

The first thing that draws attention is certainly the old city and castle that rises above it. Built in 10 th century AD, damaged by a fire in 1811 and renovated in 1953, the castle is certainly the most popular attraction in the city - the magnificent views that when the air is clean, reaches Vienna, which is just one hour, is the prime attraction visitors. The castle today mainly hosted cultural events.
A superb panoramic view of the city offers and coffee - a restaurant located above the new bridge over the Danube - also known as UFO Tower, because of its shape, which resembles a flying disk-at a height of 80 metres above the river. The steps needed to anevete to visit are 430 total - for less… persistent hardship in there and lift, in the face "leg" of this unique tower.
The plakostrotoi streets of the old city offered for endless walks, both during the day and night. Works of art you can find outside museums, which certainly is not little, in every corner. Indeed, each of them is a little surprising - such as Napoleontas which skyvei in a pagkaki to rest, paparatsi you fotografizei, hidden behind the corner of the road, or a worker who is emerging smiling from the gutter, in a break from work.

In the old city, also below the tower of St. Michael, who is also the oldest of the entrances of the city saved, is the "zero point" of the city, from which measured the distances with other capitals of the world. Looking on the south side of peritechnis compass that is designed in the territory, we discover that Athens is 1886 kilometers.
In the central square of the old town is a statue of Maximilian of the second, known as Sir Roland, who according to legend, once a year, at midnight, spinning around the axis - the phenomenon, however, may see only the virgin.
A visit is worth and the impressive National Theatre, within the limits of the old city, construction of which was completed in 1886 and now hosts opera and ballet performances. Finally, causing the impression Presidential Palace, with its amazing gardens that surround the kathedrikos of San Martin, dating from the 14 th century, and the monument Slavin, who stands at a height of 39.5 metres above the cemetery of Soviet soldiers 6845 army, killed during the liberation of Bratislava by the Germans during World War II.
Though prima facie it seems quiet, Bratislava has a rich nightlife. The best places are hidden near the old city and will need a little help from the locals to find. Most club is underground, while popular is the pub - certainly visit the Slovak Pub, the number 62 route Obchodna, traditional Slovak food, local beer and all the youth of the town (and try, through the noise created by the incredibly kefati atmosphere, to understand what is the song that sounds from loudspeakers).
For traditional tastes
The Slovak cuisine may not be famous, but, surprisingly, particularly if you have weakness in smoked meat and "heavy" foods in general. If you make a stand here because you have already visited Prague (like most visitors Slovakia) will not see significant differences with the Czech cuisine. The Slovak variant of Czech knedlicky (or dumplings, anglisti) called haluski and unreservedly recommended.
Some of the best places to get your first contact with the local cuisine restaurants are Traja musketieri (Sladkovicova 7) and Staroslovenska krcma (Michalska 14 - 16) in the old city - and, of course, the Slovak Pub mentioned.
If ultimately determine that the Slovakian kitchen is too heavy for your tastes, in Bratislava will find a wide range of international cuisine restaurants - from Czech and Hungarian by Chinese, Italian and Greek… (Delfin, Ruzova dolina 18).

One of the best hotels in the city is the five-star Radisson SAS Carlton, near the National Theatre (Hviezdoslavovo namestie 3, tel: +421 2 5939 0000), which among other things, has 8 suites, gym, sauna and conference centre . Prices for a double room start at 140 euros, while for the Suite from 369 euros.

The services include sauna, solarium, fitness center, hair salon, the international press, cafes and restaurants. Prices for a double room start at 130 euros, while for the Suite from 270 euros.

Kea

In the distance from Athens, just one hour from the port of Lavrio, Kea is high on the list of most popular destinations for the weekend. This perhaps is the "injustice" against, and natural beauties of hard estimated at only two days. "Viastikoi" prolavainoun visitors do not usually get to know the best places - which require time and, most importantly, walking.
For this reason, we recommend beginning a several escape in Kea. If, nevertheless, does not have the luxury of time, take deep breath, Block sleep from your program and follow our unique paths of history of this island.
The first image seen from the boat, this Korissias, natural harbour Keas not impressed - at least not as much as other parts of the island. The typical Cycladic architecture is particularly evident here, while the magical nature of Keas hardly distinguishable from that point.
Nevertheless, Korissia is developed tourist and, if you choose to stay here certainly will not be bored - there are several hotels, boarding houses, taverns, café and bar which fully meet requirements and more demanding visitor the weekend.

About two kilometres north of Korissias is the GIALISKARI, perhaps touristikoteri region of the island and popular destination for sailors and yacht owners, who will meet in the small port village, almost all weekends of the year.
As a result, GIALISKARI vibrant throughout the year. Restaurants, bar, café and one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, Gyaliskari, with the blue water and golden sand, make up the image of a region that has nothing to feel jealous of the cosmopolitan resorts of the Cyclades.
In the hinterland of the island, six kilometers from Korissia, Ioulida, capital of the island, offers a spectacle of breathtaking: katalefka double-decker houses with tile roofs, built amphitheatrically on the hill. Needless surely to say that the view from here is breathtaking.

Leave the car in a parking lot of tap of Rokomenou, which according to legend, people who drink water will marry a resident of the island, and aniforizoume to the country.
The paved cobbled streets, white houses, small squares, quaint churches and, of course, the lack of cars give the impression that moved into another era. Many of the buildings Ioulidas, such as City Hall and the old school samples are unique neoklassikis architecture. The archaeological museum of the city hosts findings from the Neolithic period until the first centuries after Christ.
About a half mile after the settlement, is the famous Lion of Keas, a winged lion on a rock, which dates from ancient times. Legend says that the "Liontas" was sent by Zeus to prosecute the killing of larvae that women of the island.
Escaping from the country and towards the east, we find two of the best beaches on the island, and Sykamia Kalidonichi. Kpliktikes blue waters and beaches has, however, to exhibit and southwest Kea, particularly in areas Koundouros and Poisses.
The bulk of the natural beauty of Keas, however, is "hidden" from the main roads and patiently wait their odoiporous who will discover. The cobblestones largely paths were roads linking the four cities - Member of Archaic periods, Ioulida, Korisso, Poiiessa and Karthaia stretching along 35 kilometres before you and (s) call to pedestrians cross the island.
You can choose from eight different hiking routes, depending on your strengths - the shortest route covers 1.7 miles and ends in ancient Karthaia, anyway, there is no other way other than walking, to visit, and greater crosses the interior of the island, reaching a length of the 11.8 kilometers.
In many parts of the route will meet the wooden plates walking, you inform the direction we must take, and the time you'll need to arrive at your destination - if you made a mistake to forget your sports shoes in home, calculate approximately twice that indicate the plates.
A special mention should be made to the archaeological site of Karthaias, imposed to visit even if you do not have enough time to see any other region of Keas. The shortest route to get here is from the settlement Stafroudaki, and includes forty minutes walking around the cobbled path, passing through dense vegetation, and beside the Vathypotamo, where recently discovered ancient theater and part of the city water system, leads to the beach Small Poles.
On the hill that rises above the beach, are the remains of two ancient temples of Athena and Apollo, where excavations have brought to light important archaeological finds. The sea view from the hill will reward even their enemies orkismenous walking.

Hydra

Only 2 to 3 hours away from the port of Piraeus, and accessible from the coast of the Peloponnese, the beautiful and cosmopolitan Hydra, belongs to the category of those islands the best time to visit nobody is summer, but spring.
The lack of numerous beaches, makes the Hydra ideal destination for that time of year you want to be drinking your coffee outdoors, but not to pop for hours in the sand.
The Hydra is "full story" and that is characteristic of relief to all peripatous of the island. The archontospita-residues financial soundness of the island at the end of the 19 th century-dominate the eye of the visitor and willing to teach the specifics because an architecture that combines proximity to shore island and mainland figures.
Do not miss a trip to Hydra. The narrow streets above the harbor, although not the same secular with the shoreline and often do not have any attraction to offer any tourist disposal, you provide the opportunity for an amazing walk, we'll open up the appetite. Right, like look at the port, waiting for your order with cafeterias, but also amazing ouzeri, which will meet after off the steps.
The struggle of Greek independence seal even today the image of Hydra. At the edge of the harbour you can see the Tsamadou Mansion, which housed the School Emporoploiarchon immediately after the Revolution, while in the same area you can see the Mansion of Kriezi. In the western city dominated by the Tompazis tetraorofo Mansion, owned since 1936 at the School of Fine Arts and serves as paratima which houses students.

The Museum of Modern history of Hydra, housed in feature and built in the pine Mansion George and Paul Κουντουριώτη.
Although the city of Hydra-gathering and reasonably-the lion's share of visitors to the preference of the island, lesser-known tours in other parts of the island will make your weekend truly "cottage" and (if you want) and adventure.
The sea routes of Hydra is known as the water taxi is perhaps the most common means of transport in Hydra, where very difficult to find a car.

Excellent will find lovers of walking the walk to the Prophet Elias, enough to take care to procure hat and water. For the more daring…, we propose the trip until the end of Hydra and the monastery of Zourdas. The walk will last about 3 hours, but the view of Athens and Milos (!) And excellent library of the monastery will kalogrion reward your efforts.
With high-speed - taxis from the port you can visit beaches and coastal locations that will dramatically change your opinion on the beaches of Argosaronikos. A typical example of Agios Nikolaos with the crystal clear waters and sympathestati canteen.
Food
Also with marine taxi you can find yourself in Vlycho and beautiful tavern "Marina", which will easily find that your meal will be limited to the famous baked bread! Another kolpiskos, is in Mandraki is another good choice. In "minus" of the Party that insists the only tavern to impose a high intensity of the (popular) music options for owners and customers. Otoaspides and fygate!
In the city, or operating under new management "Vigla" you wait. The veranda of promises excellent meal with one of the most beautiful city in thees price of approximately 30 to 35 euros per person. Oikonomikoteri proposal, but equally good quality can be found in "Hidden Harbour" in the seaside alleys. (If you do not ask someone local to the present, you will see that this is indeed on ... hidden).

He is the space currently houses the shop was previously part installations nioepiskefastikis zone.

Pylos

Evlogimenos place. So simple. So simple is also unknown to many, because the people do not ever turned on mass tourism and are happy with the "loyal" of all (and many are) beautiful it has to offer.
The Pylos and the province of the first is endowed by nature: low hills for loose routes by car, endless beaches and crystal clear, the lagoon at Divari, Sfaktiria which features both closes the bay.
Also, the story "honours" 4,000 years now in various ways: from the capital of the kingdom of Nestor up traces of Nafmachias of Navarino (the old name), does not stop anyone to find signals from the past.
That's take the series. Pylos is at the southwest edge of the Peloponnese, in the prefecture of Messinia, and sees the Ionian Sea. It lies 305 kilometers from Athens (maximum four hours by car) and 50 km from Kalamata (which, for those who start from further away, has airport).

The town is built amphitheatrically in the narrow end of the bay-entering the car will katiforisete several "fourketes" until you reach the centre of the city, the square of Three Navarhon. Faced with the port, with aionovia trees, with many good cafes, restaurants and ouzeri, will "eat" (rightly and justifiably) much of your time.
From the port will get one of the boats making the round of the bay, to show you the Sfaktiria, shipwrecks and monuments of pesonton naval battle in which liberated Greece in 1827, when the united English, French and Russian fleet defeated the tourkoaigyptiako of Ibrahim (yes, within this small bay). The port will be informed by the booth of the ecological organisation in the region and the Egyptian chamaileonta, who lives alone in the Nile and the lagoon of Divariou.
At the entrance to the Gulf Niokastro, highly preserved castle of Pylos, which built the Turks to prevent entry to it. The visit to the museum and walk on the walls imposed.

The other imperative visit of historical interest far as the Palace of Nestor, 20 km north of Pylos, in Egkliano. It was the wise Nestor made perfect choice to view it had chosen to enjoy, and because the archaeological site is frontismenos and many findings (most of whom are exposed to the museum in Chora, 5 km north more).
Do not you strange description of the type "" both "North and…" so "more north": the region wants tour, is not "static" vacation. For example, no one can prevent petachtei 13 km farther south, on Methoni, with a larger castles of Greece plus feature Bourtzi (and elsewhere has apart Nafplio ...) and a ... particularly sandy beach and richi.
The "pop must" in the region is the beach of Voidokoilia, which in only atychise is ... name (because if the popular Musa went, he saw and decided to vaftisei thus probably had a difficult day before): perfect semi-circular shape, which is fastened by two hills (in the southern Paliokastro the Byzantine castle of Pylos, and in the northern mykinaikos tholos Grave Thrasymidi), sand and turquoise waters.
If you avoid general polykosmia, and avoid Voidokilia weekends and Avgoustoys. Any other despite missing options for diving: the beach Gialova (more "tourist" village in the area at 6 km north of Pylos), Golden Sand ( within the Gulf of Pylos, near the lagoon of Divariou), the beach village of Stoupa, the beach in Mati (after the village Tragana) ruled not to offer you exactly what you want because it is large and clean.
You just as well be apomonotheite (even August) and ... koinonikopoiitheite in one of the "polykantines". Many small and large beaches will find on the street and Methoni s-Finikounda (the fishing village 12 km from the Methoni).
The food will not dyskoleftheite at all. The tip but in the region is not as "where to go" as "what will fao". Thus, the region is famous for vegetables and oil. The beans, for example, and aubergines, companionship with feta, is guaranteed enjoyment. For fish, respectively, simply go to Finikounda or in Fennel. It should be very atychos anyone, whatever you want to eat, to meet with ... protiganismeni potatoes.
We will make an exception for "Tavern of Rinas", shortly before the beach Romanos, because there we have learned in practice that the village salad can be surprising ...
Even an exception for the bar "12 Gods" at the entrance of Pylos: evening, with a view around the bay from high above, the word is otherwise (also will voleftoun and more ... whingers will be fooled because they are in the caldera Santorini).
Overall, about Pylos and the region will be good to have a mind that is above all for browsing, searching and relaxation. The most workable ... "Mood" is ... "Mexikanos before siesta" and the correct speed is "slow motion". The most "zoiroi" may face troubles ...

Exceptional options exist and the "stay". The hotels are fairly well. Means to Pylos, very good choices are the "12 Gods" and "Karalis". In Kalamata camping "Erodios" who has rented rooms, and the "olive trees". In Pylos the "Navarone".
There are many rooms for rent, at Pylos, in Kalamata, but also in Pylos. Keep in mind that in general prices are low and that apart from the known first half of August will be difficult to encounter a problem of completeness and lack of housing.

Ecotourism

For those tired of faceless luxury 5-star hotels and want to try something different, or for those who avoid interruptions in the Greek province because they think they will encounter benefits residence worst quality, agro-tourism is the ideal solution.
The success was the European rural development policy, while Greece has just begun the last 2-3 years to "sound" and discussed, has a tradition of 40 years.
The… agrotouristes have the opportunity to learn "from within" the Greek province and the unique natural beauty of landscapes, to try traditional dishes and recipes that will have the opportunity to taste elsewhere, to share experiences and knowledge of life with the people resist the wave of urbanism that has submerged large cities.
In tourism, nature is not simply the backdrop of the holiday - the visitor contact with her, as well as its inhabitants, is real and substantial, and not superficial and formal.

Living as agrotouristas will have the opportunity to actively participate in a series of activities, ranging from agricultural activities such as collecting mushrooms or olives, and ecotourism, such as observation of birds and visits to wetlands, to sports such as rafting, hiking or parachute slope, cultural tours and traditional arts courses, such as loom, traditional dances or manufacture honey.
A special place in rural tourism activities held by exploiting the cultural, folklore, gastronomy and architectural elements in the region. The ability to visit and tour in old monasteries, churches, bridges, wineries, craft workshops, participation in fairs and local celebrations, the gathering of olives or vintage, even the lessons of local cuisine, all contribute to the acquisition of new, unique experiences and in the sense approach to nature, with authentic and meaningful way.
The accommodation of the farm have nothing to do with the prejudices of casual, "empty" rented rooms in the middle of nowhere. It is, for the most part, traditional buildings, old mansions, egkataleleimena homes and schools, which have been fully renovated to include all necessary amenities, while the local color and architecture of the region.

Xechorisame and we recommend four of the best agrotourism lodgings, to get a first taste.

Plzen

In 1295 the king of Czech Vegkeslaos Second founded a city that, six centuries later, was to become known around the world, thanks to the export of the most popular drink of all time, beer.
Built on the contribution of four rivers, and a strategic point, 98 kilometers southwest of Prague, Plzen quickly became a centre of cultural and commercial life of the country.
The production of beer was one of the main occupations of the inhabitants of Plzen since its foundation. There was, however, despite the 1898, 56 years after the establishment of the brewery operating until now, the city gave its name to the beer currently exports to over 50 countries worldwide, ensuring the trademark "Pilsner Urquell".
This is the German translation of the name "Plzenske Prazdroj", meaning "source of Plzen". The German name was introduced as a result of ... dysprofertou the Czech name, and because of cultural influence that the city has always received from the German culture, mainly due to its proximity to germanotsechika borders, with the result that the majority of the inhabitants of Plzen, even today, be bilingual. Somewhat thus created the paradox of the Czech beer with the German name.

The global spread of the name of Plzen, which emerged from that export rise to the rapid development of tourist infrastructure of the city, and we would be excessive if we say that earns points that many European cities.
For the truth of speech, contact a local travel agencies to obtain maps and tourist guides of the city, close to room in a hotel of your choice and get whatever information you need about the city (and all free) or pay attention computer tables are posted in most squares and "speak" in English and Czech, giving information about the sights, hours of operation, routes of transport and other basic information.
What, then, points of interest for the visitor of Plzen; For lovers of local (and not only) of beer, the answer is obvious. The brewery operating in the city since 1842 organised tours daily on the premises and cellars, projections documentary about the history of the popular spirit and, of course, marathons ... beer tasting.

The tours are made seven days a week, at 12.30 and 14.00, while when the plants are closing, runs the Pivovary, known as the brewery, offered for night walks, thanks to the ambient lighting.
When you feel that you have seen (and drink) several beers, go to the town centre, which is just 10 minutes walk from the historic brewery. The first sight that will draw your attention here is undoubtedly the Gothic Cathedral of St. Bartholomew (who will help and prosanatolizeste, as is visible from almost every point of the city), in the middle of the square Namesti Republiky.
The tower of the church is the highest in the Czech Republic, with a value of 102.6 metres and offers a magnificent view across the city and its surrounding areas for those who manage to reach the top.
Still in the centre of the city, do not forget to visit the Museum of West Bohemia, which hosts great historical value relics of the region, including a unique collection gotthikon weapons, so-called arquebus, the City Council, which is built in Renaissance style, according with plans prepared in 1554 by Italian architect Giovanni de Statia and built the Great Synagogue 1893 (photo), which is the third largest in the world.
One of the most interesting sights of the city is the so-called "underground part" of a daidalodis maze corridors, groundwater and wells, extending 20 kilometres in length and dates from the Middle Ages. Today, guided tours conducted daily cover only the first 750 metres, which, however, is enough to carry in your past times and you transmit a sense of mystery that exists in space.
Just outside the town centre will meet the unique "Monument to the Victims of Evil", which is known by the name "meditation garden" or ellinisti, garden of meditation. Creating a political prisoner Lubos Hruska, the monument is actually a park natural beauty, with many rare species of coniferous trees, stone statues bearing the name eloquent "Stations of the Cross" and a small chapel.
The nature lovers will appreciate also the zoo in Plzen, which hosts more than 20 rare animal species and birds' natural environment, away from bars and cages. Even the "kings", lions, bears and siviriki tiger live in freedom, in places defined only by physical boundaries.
The park hosts also a unique botanical garden, part of which is the famous Japanese garden, built with stones from Japan, by architect Eishin Harada. Only two gardens of this kind, based on the Japanese philosophy, in Europe - in the Plzen and Vienna.
Finally, in the northern frontier town, find the 14 beautiful lakes Bolevec. Thanks to the crystal clear water and dense vegetation surrounding the lakes gather large numbers of tourists, especially in the summer months, coming here either for swimming, camping, canoeing and other water sports, or simply to admire the landscape. In the coast of Great Lake operates organized camping during the summer months.

Given the relatively small size of the city, most attractions are accessible on foot. Nevertheless, the network of transport is extremely organized and dependable, and a ride with the tram is a very good opportunity to experience the city, even if they do not go somewhere specific.
In the unlikely event that wander, and do not speak Czech or German, contact one of the many tourist information offices that exist in the city centre, as residents of Plzen, although filikotatoi and always willing to help, in their overwhelming majority do not speak English.
How to get there
By train! Plzen has no airport, but served by a highly organised network of trains and buses, arriving here from Prague and other Czech cities, as well as from Bratislava and several German cities. The route from Prague lasts one and a half hour, during which cross natural beauty landscapes.
Alternatively, you can reach in the Plzen by bus from Prague, Bratislava, Vienna and many other cities in neighbouring countries.

Given the aforementioned highly developed tourist infrastructure, Plzen has a number of hotels, guesthouses and rented rooms, both in the center of town (that is, in our opinion, the best choice, as they put on noise and traffic, as in other European centres towns) and its environs.

It offers unique decorated rooms and suites and a restaurant, bar and club, which organized unique nights of live music three times a week. Prices for a double room start at 75 euros, while the suites from 159 euros.
Food and fun
Apart from restaurants in hotels, which are in the majority, very, very good choices to try the local cuisine (and beer, of course) are the Na Spilce (U Prazdroje 7, tel: +420 377 062 754-5 ) Next to the brewery and Jadran (Bezručova 9, tel: 420 377222251).
If again, you are not fan of "heavy" local cuisine, in the Plzen will find enough good Italian restaurants such as Bella Italia (Jetelová 2, tel: 420 377 457 233) and the Greek restaurant "Akropolis" (Malicke ulici Tel: 420 377 533 723) and has an impressive list of Greek wines (Agioritiko, Macedonian, etc. Nemea)
Regarding your fun night, Plzen is not exactly "the city that never sleeps", but if thelisete xenychtisete be a little more, there are some clubs and bars that will keep your xypnious until late.
Good choices are the Jazz Rock Cafe (Sedláčkova 18), Disco (Pražská 11) and Snack Bar Cyprus (Borská 15), which, as you guessed, because ... Mediterranean idiosyncrasy of the owner, xenychtaei little more.

Pelion

The total of 24 villages of Pelion are human intervention which gives the final touch, making the natural beauty of the landscape even more vivid. Traditional built, hanging on the slopes of the mountain, all retain their traditional colour and rich history of the place.
The Pelion is evergreen, all seasons. The main reason for this is that numerous sources anavlyzoun mountain, and result in elaborately decorated stone fountains.
Drinking water in one of the dozens who will meet in your way, you will see that it is cleaner available. This, of course, is obvious and streams that cross the mountains, crystal clear waters which form in some cases, small waterfalls, falling from rocks and thus creating an even more paramythenio scene.
The idanikoteros way to know the region is to select a "base" one of the biggest villages, as the Portaria, Zagora or Tsagarada, both for easy access to other villages and more choices for entertainment at night, when they return from your everyday scenes.

As the best places of the villages of Pelion are "hidden", atheata mostly from the central, paved roads, it would be that you're prepared to walk.
Crossing the stone-built paths that lead to "endotera" villages will have the opportunity to discover and admire important monuments and attractions such as the square of Makrinitsas, and the Museum of Folk Art and History Pelion close to it, the library of Zagora , With rare books and historical documents, and the ruins of Theoxeneia, polytelesterou Hotel Balkan, propolemikis period, Portaria.
Walking along the cobbled streets and will arrive at the square, which is the centre of each village and consists almost always an impressive yperaionovio tree (whose age can be touched and the millennium, as in the case of this Tsagarada s), a marble or stone petroktisti fountain and a church with lithostroti roof and elaborate decoration. Because the square is the center of social life of the village, located around the taverns of the village, coffee shops, cafes, shops and, in some cases, bars.

Although the pattern seems to be almost the same in all villages (paved square, which starts all alleys, cobbled streets and paths, leading to the most remote home village) but the differences between them, the separate nature of each one of them is what makes them unique.
There are villages tourism developed, and that other tour guides will be featured in the "off the beaten track." Villages with a lovely view of the Aegean Sea and mountain villages with aroma. Other rich history, reaching the seniority, with other famous agricultural production and other attractions with surprisingly - museums, libraries and monasteries.
All, however, with unparalleled beauty and hospitable people, always willing to kerasoun visitors a tsipouro or a homemade cake of the blade and to diigithoun incidents from history and life of its location.
The most "cosmopolitan" from the villages of Pelion, Portaria obtains the highest number of visitors, not only because of its proximity to Volos, but also extremely organized tourist infrastructure.
In the cobbled streets paved stretching around the central square, will meet the unique beauty and history, traditional buildings, such as Athanasakeio Kindergarten, Zoulia Mansion, currently serves as a museum, Tsopoteio Scholarcheio and Lady Portarea, a Byzantine church of the 11 th century, that remains of the old monastery around which the village was built.
Special mention deserve the beaches where the Pelion owes the largest number of summer visitors. The welcoming, calm shores of Pagasitikos, with the blue waters and sandy beaches worthy rival in beauty and popularity… those of the Aegean, with eidylliakous coves, white rocks and colorful pebbles.
Undoubtedly a large part of the time of the visit in Pelion deserves to be invested in the exploration of "apatiton" beaches, whose magnificent picture will reward you for the long hike to sharply paths katiforizoun the hills.
Accommodation
The Pelion has a number of hostels, guesthouses and rented rooms for every taste and… valantio. We suggest you choose to stay one of the traditional hostels - the majority of which are rebuilt mansions past centuries - to be careful once more nostalgic, romantic feeling to stay in, anyway paramythenio, Pelion.

Skyros

A strip of land length of 4 kilometres connects the two parts of Skyros, the northwest and southeast, which, according to one theory, was once two separate islands. Under that theory explains the vast difference observed in both parts of the island: the northern section is full of pine forests strongly reminiscent of other Sporades, while the south closer to the morphology of the Cyclades.
The common characteristic of these two sections of Skyros is the unique beauty beaches, with the blue, golden sand and the endless, in most cases, their length - which is the first thing that surprises the unsuspecting visitor.
If you have several days at your disposal, we would recommend to visit all, as each has its own, unique beauty. If you your time is limited, entaxte definitely in your programme to Kyra Panayia, Pine, shooting, KALAMITSA, Acherounes and St. Phocas.
The capital of the island, Country, in the north of Skyros, with katalefka houses, built amphitheatrically on the hill and the imposing castle, laxemeno almost over the rock, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful parts of the island.

The Country crossed from the so-called Great Strata, which starts all paved, winding cobbled streets, which leads to the square of the Eternal Poetry, which dominates the statue of the poet Roupert Brooke. The Brooke has spent the last years of his life on the island of Skyros - his grave is located in the Three Boukes, in the southern part of the island.
The view from the chapel of Ai Giorgis, the highest point in the country, is breathtaking, while also deserve a visit the two museums here, History and Folklore Manou Faltaits, where you will have the opportunity to admire, among others, represent a skyrianou traditional house.
All villages of the island - other developed tourist and other more quietly, with an aroma past seasons-retain their traditional character and natural beauty, and invite the visitor to know better.

During the summer months, you can visit the southern part of Skyros (which is the most difficult, at least if you do not visit with 4x4) by boat, which starts daily from Linaria and visiting some of the most beautiful beaches of the island - including and Sarakinou, the small island located in front of the window of the bay Three Boukes. The trip lasts about 6 hours, and costs 25 euros per person.
Leaving, do not forget to buy some of the dimofilestata skyriana traditional sweets.
Accommodation
Two of the best choices are the residence hotels Skiros Palace (tel: 22220 91994, 92212, 92227) to Gyrismata and Nefeli (tel: 22220 91964) in the Country.
The Nefeli has 21 rooms, fully equipped with mini bar, television, air condition, telephone and room service, and pool, sauna and Jacuzzi in some rooms, children's pool, playground, parking and access to the internet. Prices for a double room range from 65 to 150 euros.
The Skiros Palace, a distance of just 50 metres from the beach shooting, has 80 rooms, equipped with air condition, telephone, music and large balconies with stunning sea views. Prices for a double room start at 50 euros.
Food and fun
On Skyros will find a wealth of exceptional restaurants and tavernon, to taste the local cuisine. In Country, very good choices are the "grandfather myself", "Liakos" and "Margetis". On the road to the airport, visit the "Manolia", while in KALAMITSA "Mouries." Finally, on the road to find Asitsa "Passing", with excellent traditional cuisine.
Regarding your night entertainment, Skyros undoubtedly will surprise you, since it has too many bar with music covering all tastes, which we'll keep xypnious until late.

In Country, will xenychtisete in "Akamatra", "Iroon" and "accidentally", which operate from morning coffee. Just outside the Country, "Kalypso" will listen to jazz sounds, while in Linaria "Kavos" is one of the best options for drinks and coffee - krios because of the amazing view of the sea. Finally, for the friends of music suggest the bar "Artistico" in the Country.

Elafonissos

When about 10 years ago wanted to visit the Elafonisos, only I knew is that to get must follow the signs for Sparta and then Naples Laconia. After about 4.30 hours oligolepti waiting in Punta seemed century.
Not to be late ... metanoiso for dysthymia me.
The tirkouaz colour of the sea lanes connecting the Peloponnese with Elafoniso - a cigarette-road is really monadiko.O road to the beach of Simou then was unpaved and access to it difficult. When the car went another, had to take the legs.
Through young cedar and sand dunes, with distrust painted on all persons ( "yet irthame down here?") And strange looks in this had the idea, xeprovalei the most beautiful beach I had visited until then and that was to become his favorite My destination for the coming years.

The Community of Ελαφονήσου has an area of 22 square kilometers. The permanent population is 800 people. The island was inhabited by prehistoric period. According to Thucydides, Demosthenes visited the 413 BC In Pausanias the region called "Onou Gnathos" because it had gaidouromaselas shape and was united with the opposite region Pounda.
After 370 AD katapontistike the region and formed the island. The journey by ferry, if we look at in the water, divided amaxotoi ruins and ancient streets, with various directions.
The Elafonissos is not for everyone. The two beautiful beaches of the island with tirkouaz water, which combine with each other, causing them to kylisteis more, to play with sand, to relax, but basically feel that you need not spend on luxuries well. Just this sea, this beach.

ELAFONISOS will not find luxurious hotels or constructed scenery. ELAFONISOS will chareis for what created the whirlwind nature and carrying a large mass of sand from Africa as mentioned in the older.
About recently - I have not conclude whether it was for good-at a great extent on the edge of the great beach, built organised campsite, while the road for several years has asfaltostrothei, and access is now very easy.
The steady value for the beach, the bar Pantelis, from what we have learned after ... anoigokleisimata, no longer exists. Closed due to ... "Breaches hours", as said by our competitors. It is a shame ...
The services offered can be found in most camping, but also in the tavern which has operated for two years over the beach of Simou.
On the east side of the island really deserves to visit the beach and one of the Virgin Mary, which is not lagging behind in anything. It offers lovely beach and more calm. It is ideal for families but also for an afternoon walk. If you're there, do not forget to try the dishes "Limnitsas", much of the adjacent sympathitikis tavern.
In welcoming the port which is a starting point for each traveller, you can find absolutely necessary. Only if you arrange for cash will not resolve any problem and there is a bank machine or take the island.

Since the last few years the island knows doxes large, many new apartments xefytronoun annually. Examples we suggest the following:
-- Elafonisos mare, has rooms and houses. Tel: 27340-61349
-- Estella. Ph: 27340-61031
-- Studios [Rooms with a View] near the beach of Simou. Tel: 6946-175517
-- Capari Studios Tel: 27340-61200
-- Maniatis and Villas, Tel: 27340 to 61190
-- Simos Camping, Tel: 27340-22672

For the time eating, you have several options. In short, get off at the port, then a trip to Saint Spyridon and choose what you make fun.
We xechorisame:
-- Bampinos: Ouzeri-mezedopoleio. Katapliktiki quality, beautiful environment, very good service.
-- Ntagiantas: Restaurant - barbecue by the sea, by noon.
-- Trakaina: Traditional souvlatzidiko with handmade fried potatoes.
-- Restaurant Aderfon Mendis: It brings together many people at all times.
However, from this year's visit to our island, we must note that although there is a plethora of fresh fish, that in most cases billed as ... a luxury.
For sweet and have a good choice to direct "The Edge" and to try them all. Continue to drink at Agnanti and the neighboring Remezzo. The day is another day, the beach waiting ... as you do that!

Finally, we hope that away from Elafonisos, will efcheste, like us, go back soon!

Serifos

There are many those parts of the Cyclades remaining alovita by the wave of mass tourism has, in many cases, alter the traditional colors and make it obscured the natural beauty of the islands. Following the trend of the market "a large part of the island cluster sacrificed some of its image in the interest of tourism development.
In spite of the times, Serifos keep the traditional color, the Cycladic character exudes an atmosphere of another, last season. How could indeed be otherwise? Mythikon home to many great heroes, from Pegasos and Perseus to the Medusa and Cyclops Polyphemos, with the glorious history of 3000 years, now has only 1400 inhabitants, who know that the great beauty of the place they have to offer them many more from excessive tourism.
As the ship approaches the Lawn, the port of Serifos, the unsuspecting visitor created conflicting emotions. On the one hand, the environment agono given Serifos in the not too honorary title "xeronisi" and katalefka houses of Chora, amphitheatrically built on the hill that rises above the Lawn, bringing to mind the typical image of the other Cyclades.
On the other hand, the endless length of one kilometre beach that lies next to the port, Avlomonas, and kolpiskos hosting the evergreen LIVADAKIA and distinguished to the left, seem to indicate that the island has something special.

In an area roughly 75 square kilometres, Serifos counts total 72 (!) Beaches, a total area of 10 kilometres or more. Other accessible from the mainland and others from the sea, others with golden sand and others with small pebbles, other nearby settlements and other isolated, but all with deep blue waters and dream-like atmosphere.
It would be rather unfair to suggest some of the beaches of Serifos as "better", not just a question of making their assessment difficult, but also because it would ypovivaze the magic of exploration, which is the essence of a trip to Serifos.
Completely guide will mention the "famous", and our favorite, Ganema, crushed sand, Sykamia, Vagia, Livadakia and Good Vineyard, urging you to discover the more you can write your own list.
The magic of Serifos, but not limited to the beaches. Traditionally, settlements, with the main amphitheatric Country of 280 inhabitants, with traditional buildings, cobbled streets paved, katalefka houses and the ruins of the Venetian fortress at the top of the hill, but also more "cosmopolitan" areas, with the main Lawn , Which hosts most of the night life of the island, constitute a distinct image of a place that knows how to exploit the "beauty to calcify" (the myth that Perseus, after killing the Medusa, showed the head of the Polydeukes, who in view of petrose, together with all the beauty of the island) to create paramythiou scene.
The traces of mining activity sometimes led to sharp increase in residents of the island is still visible today in the form of industrial archaeology. Rich in minerals and rocks known to those who have hobbies, mineralogical, Mega Livadhi.
The graphic and, despite its name, araiokatoikimeno fishing village on the back side of the island hosts one of the spectacular Greek monuments industrial archaeology. The huge stone bridge that served the rapid loading of ships, currently stands in poor condition at the entrance of the bay of Grand Leivadiou and welcomes instead of commercial ships, crews of vessels coming to a meal in the picturesque tavernas small beach.
Across the bridge or "Staircase", on the other side of the bay, rises known to locals "villa", the story which refers to the difficult years of dictatorship, while behind Skala begin daidalodeis lavyrinthoi of mine who crosses the mountain .
With the help of a local driver, bold… can walk through the tunnels and emerge after about 50 minutes path to another entrance, winning a prize as a dip in the deserted beach waiting below. We note the need to "guide" because several parties have been landslides, while not rare stories for peripatites which xestratisan and lost in the mine.
Guide transition
From the port of Piraeus will find yourself in Serifos in 4 hours and a few minutes ferry boat or 2 hours with high speed. Routes run daily during the summer months, and cover almost the entire cluster of western Cyclades (Kythno, Serifos, Sifnos and Milos).
